Fashion Works (2000)

Here are both of my designs that I constructed for Montserrat College of Art's 2000 Fashion Show in Massachussetts. They are not my first attempt at fashion, but the one and only photo I had of the one dress I made before has been unfortunately lost. It still haunts me today. I'll provide some sketches of at a later date. I took these photos at Apple Art College in Niigata City, Japan.

Emi's dress (right) is an "East Meets West" design. The top is a black turtleneck wrapped in a kimono-inspired shirt made from deer hunter's camouflage that ends at the waist. The right sleeve was cut at the shoulder, letting it hang over the arm. The skirt is made of green tafeta, and adorned with Indian designs. Tulle allows it to expand outwards. At the waist, a gray silk obi (sash) is cut on both sides, and is decorated minimally with an embroidered floral design.
Natsu's outfit (left) is also of Eastern and Western origins. The shirt is my first attempt at modifying jersey shirts. It's a black turtleneck that has been cut along the top of the chest and down the side, based on Chinese dresses. A sash covers the bust and overlaps the left arm. On the right, three heart-printed flaps loop through and hook back around, closing the shirt's opening. The skirt is inspired by a skirt by DKNY, modified in the way it hangs and it's material. The outer-layer is cotton usually used for slacks, and the lining is cow-printed.
